Where are we in Luberon and Provence ?

At the foot of Gordes hill and close to most Luberon magic villages.

We are very central.

Are real close : The Senanque cistercian abbey, Joucas, Roussillon, Oppède-le-Vieux, Ménerbes, Lacoste, Isle sur la Sorgue, Fontaine de Vaucluse. A little bit further are Bonnieux,  Lourmarin et the l"avenders road".

This is a copy of the map made by the garden designer Michel Sémini  who helped us initially on the framework of the garden. On top, the main house with the Sands, Dreams and Vineyards Rooms.

On the right a small second house with Birds and Angels Rooms.

The Estate (not on the map) goes north towards Monts du Vaucluse

Dans quel cadre vous allez vous trouver ?

This photo shows well the main structure which is very white because of the gordes stone material. On the right the small house and on the left the Summer Dining Room.

The garden is made of small independant parts with all their identity. This is achieved by vegetals, old walls and different levels.

You can see the left part of the house wth the pool which is over the coutryside.

The pool is oriented south (the Luberon mountains) and west (the hamlet of les Imberts). Further are the white Alpilles cliffs.

Here you may have fabulous sunsets with crazy clouds pushed by the Mistral wind. A firework.

The house from the pool.

The pool is cleaned with salt electrolysis, which is excellent for your skin and enjoyable. We have found its design in Yucatan Mexico  !!! The pool contractor now proposes it to his clients (of course, we have royalties)

We have just  put new chairs in May 2007. Real comfortable and nice looking.

From Mas des Etoiles, walks, hiking, discoveries by car are a true dream.

The estate is directly in a vineyards countryside with chery trees all over. A little further is the Garrigue (french name for mediterranean shrub) and umbrella pine forests.

From the parking behind the Mas, views on Monts du Vaucluse where are Gordes and Senanque. All thes territories are largely unspoiled. A paradise to discover a mediterranean nature and hike a bit. (Photo is hazy - shot early in the morning)

View from the pool on the "Petit Luberon". This is a true mountain range, the last one before Marseille and the Mediterranean.

Gordes, shot from the garden with the top of a cheery tree in  May 2007 ( Recent photos were shot with a Lumix Panasonic DMC-FZ 8)

How good are the rooms ?

All rooms benefit from the best comfort ( We can say that in this category and reasonable rate there is no match in the Luberon area). All have an handsome and individualized decor.

Here we have selected  the Birds Room for presentation.

See details of all the rooms by clicking here.

Most important : Beds are excellent  its sont des 160X200, latex à barres, ni durs ni mous achetés chez Dunlopillo

Every bath room is very neat.  When she was 11, Annette was educated in the US and, there, it is a basic. No question. So all details are reviewed regularly.

All bath rooms are decorated with Italian marble ( grey-white, in harmony with the rooms). All have a large shower. Many guests make picutes becausse they want the same design for their own home.

An electric towel dryer is part of the enjoyable accessories.

Oops, I forgot :The whole house, and so the bath rooms, have a super modern cooling system which operates by water pipes in the floor. So in summer it is very fresh when necessary.

The Angels Room, the favorite for Brazilians and others.

The bath room of Sands Room (second floor of main building) is among the best.

Detail - Terrace of Birds Room. That one is covered and provides an unequaled privacy you will never find in an hotel except higher rates

Detail - Terrace of the Angels Room; That one is sunny and open. Most people love it.

The main room : Guests relax there as in the Summer Dining Room. We have all kinds of guides on Luberon and Provence and this helps intellectuals (and others) to visualize what they are going to do. You can also read the morning paper or listen to Annette's favorite music.

Many nice details : A fire place from Bruges, lights by  Lustrerie Mathieu à Gargas ( Apt) or designed especially in Murano fo us ( we went ther for that) . Stairs by Lapellerie in Lacoste and iron work by the famous Aude in Gordes.

How welcome are you going to be ?
For anything you want for having the best time here, we are there.

To-day with guests from Antwerpen, Belgium I proposed several choices. They decided first to have a bike tour from the mas. We arrange eveything : Size of bike, delivery at the mas ..
Another day they will do canoeing on the Sorgue river with our friends of Canoe Evasion.
As Belgians, they like good beer and we carry Hoegaarden, Leffe, Chimay and some other best brands. A carafe of rosé wine is also in the fridge.
For more examples on what to do see also "A week in Provence" above.
The decor

You have taken the message : You are in Annette's home. She is a fanatic about decoration.

Starting already from a rich base, she looks for having all details perfect.

You won't see here at breakfast on Sundays because she starts at 6:00 to be before antiquaires on village "garage sales"

And treasures are there.

Annette is creating a small "boutique"  with a selection of things she loves. And this is private, just for our guests.

She likes the name - she put a patent on -  : " When Angels really do mind their business..."  ( Quand les anges s'en mèlent).

Mary Cassat : A wonderful pastel  painted in 1927.

As far as I remember the orginal copy is exhibited in the Museum of                  MN - Minneapolis.

Just a charming infant in the Living Room Decor.

Home made breakfasts of Mas des Etoiles

The Summer Dining Room is pleasant and has good views on the garden, the Luberon and the vineyards.

Croissants with butter, the best bread of Luberon (with cereals, sesame, pavot etc...), nice english rose flowers smelling good , orage juice, just pressed.

Popayan  coffee from de Colombia, 36 kinds of tea. A big show pressented casually to have a good start in the day.

I forgot to mention Annette's jams.

Here, strawberries and thyme flowers. Names are unconventionals and guests like it. Nothing to do with standard "Bonne maman " jams of the supermarkets.

Easter 2007. Sometimes we have many kids here and the decor changes often to meet opportunities and events.
The (s) garden (s)
We have asked Michel Sémini who is on top of garden designing  for Provence to help us to design the future garden.
He has been very kind to us as we were not the sort of celebrities he uses to deal with. Annette had also ideas to get the garden in harmony with the house.
So plenty of white roses ( Iceberg variety) and at his season (June 2007) lavenders, santolinas, Rosmarines ...
White and pink valerianas mixed with blue irises in front of a Toscan gardenlike landscape with a lot of juniperus.
Spring outburst of flowers : Oenotheras ans starting Perovskias. We have also a lot of golden Photinias and white Laurels which come out now in June.
This corner is "magic" as we have a cormer where white rose flowers are intertwined with a splendid solanum jasminoide.
Entrance to Annette's secret garden.

Picture contest of the month (May 2007)

The Montgolfière is back over the Mas. If you are early, you can (almost) every morning have a trip generally from Joucas to Lagnes, overseeing Gordes fabulous set-up on the way.

The vineyard leaves are just out with an exceptional clear green color. In front, irises and a glimpse of the white rose  of the swimming pool.
An old bench, irises and cistes, this was one nice corner in early May.
View on the vineyards. Colors chane with the daylight; It is especially good at sunset.
An "ocean" of blossoming cherry trees shot at the end of April 2007.
